Makes sense Ian, but jQuery itself is nothing compared to whole ajax and datatables gig. Like, Rails itself is slower performing system wrt c language or even core ruby servers but we don't go down the rabbit hole for performance to kick in.

As a developer, I acknowledge points against jQuery size and loading but at the same time it's merely size of a image banner or such. What matters is global acceptability, randomly pick a dev, he'll be okay-ish with jQuery.

There's always a tussle between what's best for the developer and what's for the system. 😅 Funny but true.
